Calibrated dates have an irregular probability distribution, and are thus
difficult (impossible) to represent with a single number, unlike radiocarbon
dates. Two possibilities are available: to use the mode (year with the highest
probability), or a weighted average of the distribution as a single value for
use on plots. Menu Lj, here, allows the choice of which to use.
Toggles from `MODE' to `WTAVE'.
Results of modelling are always presented graphically as a 95% confidence
interval band either side of their mean (which will be identical, or nearly
so, to the weighted average). If menu Lj is set to `MODE', the dates will be
apparently off-center from this distribution,.
